Is pet insurance actually worth it for dogs?
Okay so I've been going back and forth on this for a while now. Got Loki insured early on because someone told me to and honestly I never really thought hard about whether it made sense financially.
Now I have clients asking me about it constantly and I realize I don't have a solid answer for them. Some people swear by it, some say they just put $100/month in a savings account instead and come out ahead.
Few things I'm genuinely curious about:
- Does breed actually affect how worth it the coverage is? (asking for like, high-drive working dog mixes specifically)
- Are there policies that are NOT a nightmare to actually file a claim with
- Pre-existing condition exclusions, how bad is it really
Real talk I've seen dogs rack up $8k in vet bills overnight. But I've also seen people pay premiums for 7 years and never use it.
Anyone here actually gone through a major claim? Was it worth the hassle?
