Across the UK, 490 listed trainers offer one to one sessions, more than any other way to train. The trainer's attention is on you and your dog alone, which suits puppies, everyday manners like recall and lead walking, and dogs who find groups hard.

More than four in ten of these trainers can come to your home, and about a third can work with you online by video call. Of those who describe their methods, more than nine in ten say they train force-free.
Counted from all 490 one to one dog training listed in the UK, from what their own websites say.
Usually the trainer starts by asking about your dog and what you’d like to work on, then shows you exercises to practise together. It’s worth asking each trainer how they run a first session, as it varies.
Neither suits every dog. One to one sessions focus on your dog’s needs, while a group class helps a dog learn around others. Many of the trainers here offer both, so you can ask which they’d suggest.
