Hey all,

I’m looking for some new ways to tire Diesel out, especially during the colder months when we can’t spend as much time at the park. Diesel’s a big guy and he’s full of energy he needs a good workout to stay happy and well-behaved. I usually take him for a jog or a hike, but I’m wondering if anyone has other ideas for dog-friendly exercises we can do indoors or in the backyard.

What’s worked best for you with high-energy dogs like Rottweilers? Any favorite games or exercises to keep them active?

Looking forward to your suggestions!

Greg

Hey Greg,

I hear you! Luna's the same way full of energy, and when we can’t hit the trails, I’ve had to get creative with indoor and backyard activities. Here’s a few things that have worked for us..

Flirt pole: It’s great for burning energy and it's like an indoor game of chase. Luna loves it, and it’s a good way to work on her prey drive in a controlled way.

Tug of war: It's simple, but Luna goes wild for it, and it’s a great way to tire her out without needing too much space.

The more active, the better, and these have worked for us on colder days when outdoor adventures aren’t as easy. Hope this gives you a couple new ideas to try with Diesel!

Evan
