Does Anyone Else’s Dog Pant A Lot in the Car?

Hey everyone,

I’ve noticed something about Luna, my 2-year-old German Shepherd, that has me curious. Every time we’re in the car, she starts panting like crazy even if it’s not hot out and the A/C is on. She’s not scared of the car (she hops in excitedly every time) and loves going places, but the heavy panting makes me wonder if she’s stressed or just excited.

We take a lot of road trips, so I want to make sure I’m doing everything I can to keep her comfortable during drives. Has anyone else’s dog done this? Is it just excitement, or could there be something else going on? Any tips to help her relax if it’s stress?
