Common questions about Spot dog insurance

How long is the Spot waiting period?

14 days

Does Spot cover pre-existing conditions?

A curable condition is treated as new once it has gone 180 days without treatment or symptoms. Not for chronic, knee or ligament conditions.

Does Spot cover vet exam fees?

Covered as part of eligible treatment ("examinations, consultations")

Does Spot cover behavioural training or a behaviourist?

Covered when treated by a vet, or by a certified animal behaviourist or veterinary behaviourist your vet refers you to.

Does Spot pet insurance cover dental?

Dental illness covered. Cleanings only when they treat a covered illness; cosmetic and orthodontic work isn't covered.

Does Spot cover cruciate ligament surgery?

14-day waiting period. Knee problems count as affecting both sides, so a pre-existing problem in one knee rules out the other.

How does Spot treat a condition on both sides, like both knees?

Ligament and knee conditions count as bilateral: a condition on one side affects both. Bilateral conditions of pre-existing conditions are excluded

How old does my puppy need to be for Spot?

8 weeks, for accident and illness and accident-only plans

Does Spot offer a multi-pet discount?

10% on every pet after the first.

Does Spot cover cancer treatment?

Cancer treatments, including chemotherapy and radiation, are listed under the policy's illness benefits.
