How long does puppy biting actually last? My hands are destroyed.
okay so i don't have a puppy right now but i'm fostering a 12 week old lab mix and i genuinely forgot how bad the bitey phase is. like my arms look like i lost a fight with a rosebush.
from what i've learned in school and seen at the clinic, most pups start chilling out around 4-5 months when teething wraps up, but the mouthing behavior itself can stick around longer if it's not being redirected consistently. lowkey this is more common than ppl think, people assume it just... stops on its own and then wonder why their 8 month old is still chomping.
tbh the yelp-and-ignore method works for some dogs and does nothing for others. i've had better luck with immediate toy redirects and a lot of tether time so they're not just zooming into my hands constantly.
for those of you who've been through it, what actually worked for your pup? and how long did it take before you could exist near them without body armor lol
