STAY AWAY! Please please stay far away from Ian if you are looking for a reputable trainer. I was referred to him by another trainer and was excited to work with him. I gave him my 12 week old puppy for board and train. I later found out from him that he was high on drugs (I have screenshots) the whole time my 12 week old puppy was in his care! I didn’t find this out until the end of our relationship. After board and train I then purchased private training lessons for my other dog who has owner directed aggression. Unfortunately the devastating fires hit LA and Ian was not able to do lessons (which was strange because he had the funds to open up a facility during the fire but not do in home lessons) despite asking for donations. I had already prepaid for these lessons and he refused to refund. Finally when these lessons got going he only held them in his facility. Apparently, according to messages he sent me later on, he was also high on drugs during these lessons. Our sessions also paused while he went to rehab. Please stay far away, I’m traumatized by this experience. He STOLE money and never finished my 2 sessions that he owed me. In regards to his dog training skills, there are much healthier approaches. I hired a board certified veterinary behaviorist (years and years of specialized training post vet school) and she said all of Ian’s tactics worsen dog aggression. Ian uses e collars. My dogs are doing AMAZING with Tullys Training. They pair you with a trainer and you get consistent in home sessions and access to your trainer. There is a thorough intake process to match you with a trainer. The dog trainer field is unregulated so going through a company is truly best, where they present the trainers certificates. Please stay far away if you want a reliable trainer. Ian is a CROOK and if I had the time I would take him to small claims court for the sessions he owes me. Stay away!!!!!!!!!!!!
